There was a school shooting on 9/10/25 just 20 miles west of Columbine. The nation will soon forget it, since “only” three students were shot. But that would be a mistake.
The 16 year-old shooter came to school with a handgun and many rounds of ammo, but the school and students followed active shooter protocols and did a lockdown of classrooms, saving countless lives. The shooter (whose name I will not mention) shot and seriously injured two students, then died by suicide when law enforcement quickly arrived on the scene.
Law enforcement said the shooter was “radicalized through an extremist network.” His social media posts referenced Columbine and indicated he embraced conspiratorial, antisemitic and white supremacist views.
It’s awful that students have to go through active shooter drills, but it can pay off, as it DID at Evergreen High School.
